Dr. Pepper Texas Sheet Cake

Directions:
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F. Prepare a 9×13 baking pan by spraying it with cooking spray.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, baking soda, and salt.
Prepare the Chocolate Mixture: In a saucepan over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add cocoa powder and Dr. Pepper, whisking until smooth. Bring just to a boil, then remove from heat.
Combine: Pour the chocolate mixture into the dry ingredients. Add eggs and buttermilk, mixing just until combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Bake: Bake for 25-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Remember, Texas Sheet Cake is denser and won’t rise as much as traditional cakes.
Make the Glaze: While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, melted butter, Dr. Pepper, and milk until smooth. Stir in chopped pecans.
Finish: Pour the glaze over the warm cake as soon as it comes out of the oven, spreading evenly. Allow the cake to set for 1-2 hours before serving for easier slicing.
